Life certainly does get crazy at times, and it is easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of it. It is important to slow down and take time for yourself and your family. We are pleased to offer many workshops that will provide you with the opportunity to do just that. Below you will find information on these various workshops. They are filling quickly, so please call at your earliest convenience to register at (860) 676-8800. Also, a quick reminder that YogaKids classes begin this week. Ages 4-6, Thursdays 1:30-2:30, and ages 6-12, Thursdays 4-5pm. It is not too late to register! Tween Yoga for Girls 5-6:30pm This is fun-filled yoga class that celebrates your each girl's unique body, mind and spirit. Students will increase strength, flexibility, balance and coordination through yoga poses, posture sequencing and breath awareness. Learn to listen to your body and your inner teacher as you playfully move and groove in noncompetitive ways. Tween yoga also offers an opportunity to find peace and calm while you chill out with relaxation and visualization. Explore yoga with: $18 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Family Yoga Workshop Sunday, March 9th 3:30-4:30 Julie Erasmus A great way for the whole family to spend time together. Mothers, fathers, grandparents or caregivers join their children (ages 3+) in learning and practicing yoga, and enjoy special time to move, play, bond and discover together. Explore postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques that can be incorporated into daily life. * All of these yoga classes incorporate: Stretching, strengthening and movement Individual and partner postures and exercise * Creative expression, music and games * Connection with body and mind, and the natural world around us * Relaxation, visualization and breathing exercises * Activities that promote healthy bodies, clearer minds & calmer spirits * Sense of community, fostering compassion & non-competitiveness The cost is $12.50 per adult and $5.00 per child. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yoga and Meditation Workshop Iris and Roy Maurer Sunday, March 30th, 2008, 9:30-1 This half-day workshop integrates Buddhist Vipassana Meditation into Hatha Yoga practice. Instruction is designed for those new to both meditation and yoga; students of all levels are welcome. The half-day format allows sufficient time to quiet the mind & body and encourage a deepening of the practice. $65 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Teen Yoga Yoga for teens is a fun and helpful practice that unites body, mind and breath. Improve body tone and strength, posture, balance, focus, flexibility and sense of calm through poses (asanas), posture flows (vinyasas) and breathwork (pranayama). Release stress and find inner peace through relaxation, visualization and creative expression. Learn techniques for self-awareness, inner-strength and relaxation that help in handling life?s pressures and challenges. $18 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yoga Nidra Workshop Leslie Gordon Yoga Nidra or "Yogic Sleep" is a combination of relaxation, affirmation, respiration and visualization techniques that are used together to create deep relaxation in the physical body. This multidimensional approach to relaxation facilitates deep integration of mind, body and spirit. Experience this profound relaxation yourself as Kula yoga teacher, Leslie Gordon, guides you through a gentle asana and yoga nidra practice. This practice is appropriate for anyone, regardless of your physical condition. Please dress warmly in layers, as you will be lying in Savasana for about an hour. You may eat a light meal 1 hour before arriving. $20 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Partner Yoga Friday, May 16th, 2008 Leslie Gordon and Maggie Rueda This nurturing, inspiring, and fun-filled yoga class will combine physical poses and breathing techniques (pranayama) to help you release tension, focus your mind, increase strength, and gain flexibility. Bring a partner, friend, or spouse, open to all levels. You and your partner will practice together and benefit from each other's support to attain correct alignment and take each posture a little deeper. Having another person to help and work directly with you will help you feel safe and supported. Additionally, you will build courage, strengthen trust and deepen communication with your partner. Practicing yoga postures with a partner will inspire and encourage each of you to new realms within your practice. $35 per couple Please call (860) 676-8800 to register for any of these events.
